SaaS Backup

Back up your Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other SaaS application data

Data and Cloud

What it is

SaaS backup creates independent, recoverable copies of your data in Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams), Google Workspace, Salesforce, and other cloud applications. Microsoft and Google provide infrastructure redundancy to protect against their own outages, but they do not protect your data against accidental deletion, malicious insiders, ransomware that syncs encrypted files to the cloud, or retention policy gaps. SaaS backup gives you independent control over your data with point-in-time recovery, granular restore capabilities, and retention periods that match your business and compliance requirements.

Why it matters

Most organizations assume Microsoft or Google backs up their data. The shared responsibility model means they protect the infrastructure; you are responsible for your data. Deleted emails, overwritten files, and corrupted data are your problem to recover, not theirs.

What to expect

Setup connects the backup service to your SaaS applications through API integration. Initial backup runs can take hours to days depending on data volume. After the initial backup, incremental backups run automatically. Restores can recover individual items, mailboxes, or entire environments.

Common questions

Does Microsoft 365 include backup?

Microsoft provides geo-redundant storage and a limited recycle bin with time-based retention. This protects against Microsoft infrastructure failures but not against accidental or malicious deletion beyond the retention window, which is typically 30 to 93 days depending on the service.
